The Edge · Intense, sharp and impossible to ignore.

You are obsidian: volcanic glass, born from lava that cooled so fast no crystals had time to form. You are all-or-nothing, and you cut straight to the point. People either find you magnetic or a little intimidating, and you are fine with both.

Obsidian fractures into edges sharper than surgical steel, which is why it was the first tool humans ever made. You have that same clarity: you see what is really going on, you say it, and you do not waste energy on small talk. Under the darkness there is a mirror; you reflect people back to themselves whether they like it or not.

Your strengths

  • Fearless honesty
  • Decisive when others freeze
  • Deep, private loyalty to a chosen few

Watch out for

  • Sharp words leave marks
  • Brittle under sudden shocks despite the tough front
  • Slow to let people in

How to tell real Obsidian at a glance

  • Color: Black, Brown, Green, Rainbow. Look at a clean, dry surface in daylight. Color zoning, banding or spots are as diagnostic as the hue.
  • Luster: Vitreous. Fresh surfaces shine like glass; a dull surface usually means weathering, so chip or wet a corner.
  • Transparency: Translucent. Hold a thin edge up to a bright light and note whether light passes through.
  • Mohs hardness: 5.5. It is about as hard as window glass: a knife barely marks it, while a steel file (Mohs 6.5) will.
